F360 (2016). Dipole field driven morphology evolution in biomimetic vaterite.

Morphology evolution of this biomimetic vaterite has been investigated by SEM, XRD, HRTEM and TGA. The most interesting observation is a disk developed in the centre of the particles. The disk supplies a dipolar field to force nanocrystallites in the particles to change their orientations. The newly proposed mechanism of morphology evolution sheds light on the microstructural evolution in many biomimetic materials and biominerals. [H. F. Greer, M.-H. Liu, C.-Y. Mou, W. Z.
